ABOUT ST.CATHERINE LABOURE SCHOOL
St. Catherine Laboure School Principal Letter
Welcome to St. Catherine Labouré School! We have been offering a high quality Catholic education to the Glenview area for more than 50 years.
Academic excellence is one of the hallmarks of SCL - our students regularly score "ready" or 'exceeding" on ACT / Aspire testing. This remarkable achievement is only possible due to the close collaboration of supportive, energetic families and dedicated, highly skilled teachers. Our students are the focus of our school, and we take great pride in graduating well-educated, well rounded, and well cared for young men and women.
If you are a current SCL family, I remind you that my door is always open. If you are considering joining our SCL family, please feel free to stop by anytime or call (847) 724-2240. We would be happy to show you all that makes our school a wonderful place to be.
Our Mission Statement
St. Catherine Labouré School teaches the values of Jesus and the Catholic Church in an atmosphere of love in a family-like atmosphere.
Teachers impart fundamental academic skills, the joy of learning, a positive sense of self-awareness, and a community spirit, while recognizing each student’s individuality and importance.
St. Catherine Labouré School is proud of its past. With the support of parents and the parish community, and with guidance from the Holy Spirit, we anticipate the future with faith and determination.
St. Catherine Labouré School is a Catholic Community dedicated to learning, prayer, liturgy and service. We are committed to the development of each student as a person with unique abilities and needs.
Recognizing the parent as the primary teacher, St. Catherine Labouré School fosters a strong home-school partnership in order to provide quality education for each student.
Our Catholic School environment promotes intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical, and social growth while nurturing the self-esteem and self-confidence so vital to learning. Each student is encouraged to realize his or her full potential through inquiry, creativity, and action.
Through integration of academic competency and spiritual values, the student is challenged to be a concerned and active individual in church and society, present and future.
Students from Saint Catherine Labouré School graduate with a Catholic identity, strong academic skills, a quest for continued learning, and an understanding that service to others is a hallmark of maturity. While at St. Catherine’s, students are provided opportunities to lead, follow, and serve in a Catholic environment. They enter ninth-grade prepared to be life-long learners who excel in high school and beyond.
At St. Catherine’s, students interact in value-laden, family-style, nurturing and supportive settings wherein they develop the skills and understandings needed for success in a rapidly changing, fast paced real world. Quality teachers and parents work together in addressing the multi-level needs of children. As a team, they are actively engaged in the moral, intellectual, physical, psychological and social development of each child. The use of proven and emerging techniques that best practice confirm enhance the effectiveness of learning and teaching are evident throughout the school. These are supported by instructional aids that are continuously updated and delivered through technology that is seamlessly integrated throughout the school and curriculum.
Each student is encouraged to reach his/her fullest academic potential while establishing a relationship with God and a commitment to others. The nurturing environment at St. Catherine’s recognizes that no two children are alike and that the education of each child is an experience unique to that child.
Catholic Identity is the primary cornerstone for the existence of St. Catherine Labouré School. Catholic Identity embraces belief in God, a celebration of the Sacraments, a life of Prayer, and living a moral life.
Academic excellence is the school’s focus to ensure that each child will be able to achieve at his/her respective potential.
The primary educator of children is the family unit, which must become engaged in the life of both the School and the Parish to ensure the appropriate spiritual, academic, psychological, social and physical development of both our children and our families.
Students can best be nurtured in a closely-knit, caring, safe environment that embraces a family atmosphere.
Students should be instilled with the Christian value of service to God, to each other, and to the communities in which they live.
The tradition of providing each child an opportunity to excel, whether it is in academics, sports, the fine arts, or other arenas, is an essential characteristic of St. Catherine Labouré School.
St. Catherine Laboure School Strategic Plan
St. Catherine Labouré School opened its doors in 1960. Since then, we have consistently provided an outstanding education to the children of Glenview and beyond. During our more than 50 years of our operation, the world has changed, and practices and procedures used in our first classrooms would be out of place to our students today.
As education is a dynamic field that requires schools to consistently review practices and procedures, our school underwent a strategic planning process in 2013. Led by a committee of administrators, teachers, parents, and parishioners and facilitated by Attea Consulting Enterprise, we formulated a plan to shape our school through the 2018 school year. In all that we do, our school keeps our mission statement in focus. We continue to be “a community united by Scholastic Achievement, Catholic Values, and Lifelong Learning.”
